Landscape Lighting Fixtures

Landscape lighting, has become more and more prevalent on residential homes as they have become more cost-effective with a great variety and selection to choose from. There are many different types of outdoor lighting fixtures to choose from. Depending on your plan there different types to suit your needs:

Up Lights - These types of outdoor lighting fixtures are spotights or floodlights that are ground-based lights with the lights pointing up.  They are used to highlight specific areas of your landscape such as a flowerbed, fountain or waterfall

Down Lights -  Carefully placed spotlights or floodlights can produce a natural effect mimicking moonlight and highlight both walkways and driveways.  It is generally used for security purposes and with careful placement at different angles, can provide you with a good balance of light. Downlight fixtures can easily be concealed within plants, high up on trees or situated to resemble lamp posts.

Path Lights- These are light fixtures are placed low to the ground and emit a spreading light. They are usually situated along driveways or walkways in the landscape as a guide along the path.

Back Lights- These outdoor lighting fixtures are placed behind large decorative ornaments or statues and large plants to accent their features or cast a silhouette on a wall.  Usually hidden from view, these types of lights include spotlights or floodlights as well as in-ground fixtures.

Specialty Lights- These lighting fixtures are generally used for special occasions.  Outdoor string lights, outdoor party lights, patio torches or outdoor post lighting  will accentuate an event during the evening. The type of lighting fixture you choose will depend on what type of effect you are looking for.
